Celebrating the Financial Impact of the MI Partnership Since 2015

The Mozambique Initiative will celebrate 40 years of connection next year. Over these many years, Mozambicans and Missourians have partnered together in ministry in exciting and deeply human ways. Friendships have been formed. Ideas have been sparked and fed with enthusiasm. Prayers of desperation and hope have been offered, sometimes simultaneously. And there have been many, many chances to celebrate the ways in which God has surprised us in this life together.

One of the unique ways we are in relationship as Methodists in Missouri and Mozambique is through sharing financial resources. In the last decade, over $7.4 million in second-mile, beyond apportionment giving has helped fuel our collective work. This graph details a breakdown of where these funds were directed and for what projects. When you look at these graphs and numbers, it's easy to think that's a lot of money - especially when you compare it to your local church's budget! However, this is an areas of the Church that's growing rapidly. Additionally, these totals reflect our collective impact. You and your church's giving was amplified by the others in our connection who gave. How cool is that?

As we look ahead to the next decade of connection, we have an opportunity to build from this strength. Where is God leading us now? How might we best partner to demonstrate our faith, hope and love in this season? This relationship crosses continents, languages and increasingly generations — may God continue to bless us in these next 10 years!
